Packaging Shifts Required Calculator

Estimate whole production shifts needed to complete a single-scope good-unit order from planned good units per shift. Formula: shifts = ceiling(order good units / good units per shift); planned capacity = shifts × good units per shift. Good units per shift must already include the user's operating assumptions and must not be reduced by OEE a second time.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Order and planned shift capacity

Range: at least 0 count

Enter a whole-number order quantity for one product/package scope. This is an example only; enter the actual order quantity.

Range: at least 0 count

Enter a whole-number good-output capacity for a full production shift, based on the site's representative rate and schedule. Do not apply OEE again if this value is already a good-output estimate. Zero capacity is valid only for a zero order. The prefilled value is illustrative only, not a site measurement or industry benchmark; replace it with data for the selected scope.

Result

Capacity above order quantity
10,000 units
Good-unit capacity across planned shifts
60,000 units
Whole production shifts required
5 shifts
Valid
Estimate limitations
This estimates full production shifts only. It does not determine shift length, calendar days, labor availability, overtime, or machine capability; use a representative same-scope good-output capacity.
