Expected Corrective Downtime Calculator

Estimate total corrective downtime in a planning period from expected failure count and positive mean downtime per repair. Formula: expected corrective downtime = expected failures × mean repair downtime. Fractional expected failures are valid for a statistical forecast.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Failure forecast and mean equipment downtime

Range: at least 0 failures in period

Enter the forecast expected failure count for one defined asset/equipment scope and planning period. A fractional expected count is valid; this is not a schedule of specific failure events.

Range: at least 0 h/failure

Enter positive average elapsed equipment downtime for one corrective failure in hours. Apply the same downtime definition used by the failure forecast; do not substitute technician labor-hours unless that is the intended measure.

Result

Valid
Expected corrective equipment downtime in stated period
20.00 h
Forecast scope and limitations
This expected downtime total covers the same asset scope and planning period as the expected-failure input. It is a forecast value, not a schedule, availability guarantee, or downtime distribution; it excludes waiting/parts/crew effects unless they are included in the entered mean downtime.
