Required Packaging Rate Calculator

Calculate the minimum sustained good-output rate needed to complete a whole-unit order within a net productive run window. Formula: required units/min = order good units / net run minutes; units/hour = units/min × 60. Quantity and rate use the same package/product scope. This is a target, not a machine capability guarantee or safety/compliance result.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Order and available time

Range: at least 0 count

Enter a whole number of good packages or units. Use the same unit scope as the resulting rate. This is an example only; enter the actual order size for this job.

Range: at least 0 min

Enter net productive minutes remaining after changeovers, breaks, planned downtime, and other scheduled losses. If starting with hours, multiply by 60. Subtract each planned loss only once. Must be greater than zero; This is an example only; enter the actual production window for this job.

Result

Minimum good-output target (units/min)
60.000000 units/min
Equivalent minimum good-output target (units/hour)
3,600.000000 units/hour
Valid
Target rate interpretation
The minimum units/min target is rounded up to six decimal places; units/hour is converted from that target. Compare it with a measured sustained good-output rate for the same product/package basis. Net time must already exclude the planned losses you intend to cover. The target does not prove the machine or line can achieve it.
