Packaging Energy Cost per Unit Calculator

Estimate electricity use, energy cost, and energy cost per good package from average machine input load, operating time, an energy price, and good output for one matching production period. Formula: kWh = average input kW × operating hours; energy cost = kWh × USD/kWh; energy cost per unit = energy cost / whole good units. Uses user-entered measured load and price; excludes demand charges and other utility fees unless included in the entered rate.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Electrical load, tariff, and output

Range: at least 0 kW

Use average measured electrical input load in kW over the same production period. Include only equipment represented by the good-unit output count. Do not substitute motor nameplate power unless it represents measured average draw.

Range: at least 0 h

Enter positive operating hours for the period used to measure average load and count good output.

Range: at least 0 USD/kWh

Enter the applicable energy-only price in USD per kWh. Include demand or other fees only if you have allocated them into this blended rate.

Range: at least 0 count in period

Enter whole good package units produced during the same period used for load and operating hours.
