Packaging Container Loss Calculator

Quantify countable containers not accepted as good output over one defined process scope and period. Formula: lost = fed − good; yield = good/fed; loss rate = lost/fed; container-material loss cost = lost × user-entered unit material cost. This is container-count and container-material arithmetic, not a process capability or regulatory fill-compliance assessment.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Container counts and unit cost

Range: at least 0 count

Enter a whole count for one process boundary and measurement period. The fed count must be greater than zero to calculate yield/loss rate.

Range: at least 0 count

Count containers accepted as good at the end of the same process boundary and period. Do not count recovered/reworked units twice. Must not exceed fed containers.

Range: at least 0 USD/container

Enter user/supplier material cost for one empty container in USD. This excludes product, labor, disposal, and conversion cost. Zero is allowed; The prefilled price is an example only; use a current supplier or purchasing value.

Compare fed and good counts from the same defined process boundary and period. Cost includes only the lost empty-container material at the entered unit cost; station attribution requires station-specific counts.
