Packaging Consumable Purchase Quantity Calculator

Estimate supplier packs and total countable packaging consumables to purchase. The entered allowance is an extra percentage of the required good order quantity, not process yield loss. Formula: needed units = ceiling(order units × (1 + extra allowance)); supplier packs = ceiling(needed units / units per supplier pack); purchase units = packs × pack size. Applies where the specified consumable unit count per good package is known.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Order, allowance, and supplier pack size

Range: at least 0 count

Enter a whole-number order quantity. One countable consumable unit is assumed per good packaged unit; adjust the quantity basis before using if the BOM uses multiple pieces per package.

Range: at least 0 fraction

Enter 3% as 0.03. This adds that percentage of the good-unit order quantity. It is not a process scrap/yield-loss percentage or recommended standard. The prefilled value is illustrative only, not a site measurement or industry benchmark; replace it with data for the selected scope.

Range: at least 1 count

Enter the supplier's countable unit pack size as a whole number. Use 1 when the supplier sells individual units. This does not model a supplier minimum order quantity beyond pack size.

Result

Total whole consumable units to purchase

Estimate limitations
This is count-based procurement math, not a process-yield loss model. Verify the BOM consumption per good package and supplier pack size; minimum order quantities and safety stock are not included.
