Packaging Film Order Weight Calculator

Estimate film mass from required web length, web width, film thickness, and user-supplied material density. Formula: weight = length(ft) × width(in)/12 × thickness(mil)/12,000 × density(lb/ft³). Uses 1 mil = 0.001 inch and 12 inches per foot. Density is a material input, not a resin default.

Example values are prefilled to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with values for your product, package, equipment, and operating conditions.

Inputs

Film dimensions and material

Range: at least 0 ft

Enter web length in feet; a zero-length order returns zero volume and weight.

Range: at least 0 in

Enter full unfolded film web width in inches, not per-lane width unless one lane is the full web. For centerfold material, use the full opened width.

Range: at least 0 mil

Enter total effective thickness in mil; 1 mil = 0.001 in = 1/12,000 ft. For multilayer structures, use total caliper.

Range: at least 0 lb/ft³

Enter effective density in lb/ft³ for the complete film structure from the supplier specification or a supported measurement. Do not use a single-resin density for a laminate unless it represents the composite.
